Life in the Spirit Seminars
The Life in the Spirit Seminar is commonly used by Catholic groups in the context of renewal in the Roman Catholic Church.  The Seminar is an instrument for bringing people into a deeper experience of the work of the Holy Spirit.  The Seminar offers the basic presentation of the Gospel and the basic teaching about what the Lord is willing to do for all who come to Him.
The Life in the Spirit Seminar is available for every baptized Catholic and provides a way to learn more about living in the Spirit day by day.  In the Seminar one takes steps which will allow Jesus Christ to establish, or restore, or deepen a relationship with you.  For Catholics who have experienced the graces of the Sacraments of Initiation, Jesus offers one a new and fuller relationship with Himself.  The gift of the Spirit fills our whole life and transforms us so that we begin to know and experience God’s love and the abundant life Jesus spoke of: “I came that they might have life and have it to the full.”(John 10:10)  The Church has never lost the life of the Spirit but continues to encourage Christians to open their hearts to the power of the Spirit.
The Life in the Spirit Seminar consists of 1 ½ hour sessions which are usually given once a week for 7 weeks or over the period of a weekend.  The basic themes of the various sessions are:
Session 1: God’s LOVE: “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him may not die, but may have eternal life.” (John 3:16).  The manifestation of this LOVE is in the life/death/resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Jesus sends us the Holy Spirit so that we can live in this LOVE: “He it is who will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11).
Session 2: Salvation.  God freed us from darkness and the power of Satan through Jesus Christ.  The Spirit comes to us to teach us of the power of this gift of salvation through Christ.
Session 3: The New Life.  God gives us new life through the Holy Spirit through the Sacraments of Initiation.  Learning to release the power of these Sacraments is a gracious gift of the Holy Spirit.
Session 4: Receiving God’s Gifts. The Lord has taught us in His Scriptures the way to open our hearts fully to receive the Spirit’s gifts.  Through repentance and faith, we respond to the work of the Spirit in our lives.
Session 5: Releasing the Spirit.  This session is set aside for making the commitment to Christ and the prayer for the release of the Holy Spirit already present from the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation.
Session 6: Growth.  Through prayer, study, and service one celebrates daily the gift of the Spirit within the Christian community.  The Spirit comes to bind us together in the Body of Christ as we deepen our personal relationship with Christ Jesus.
Session 7:Transformation In Christ.  Through the released Spirit’s presence in one’s daily life, one is slowly transformed by a new relationship with the Lord.  Daily inspired and enlivened by the Spirit, the Christian dedicates his/her life in service to others by using the Spirit’s gifts to build up the Body of Christ in the world today.
